History    
    Sarangani lies in the southernmost part of Mindanao. It is composed of the coastal municipalities of Maitum, Kiamba, Maasim, Alabel, Malapatan, and Glan and the upland municipality of Malungon. The inhabitants of the place are called Sarangans.
       The Division of Sarangani was formerly part of South Cotabato. It was until the Province of Sarangani was created as separate province under the virtue of Republic Act 7228. On August 6, 1993, the Division of Sarangani was born.  It was headed by Dr. Leticia E. Cabang as first Schools Division Superintendent, who served for ten years. Then, in 2003, SDS Nenita T. Golez, Ph.D. took over. It was followed by SDS Deborah A. Adrales, CESO VI in 2004. Then on 2011, SDS Allan G. Farnazo, CESO V took the lead. Currently, it is headed by Isagani S. Dela Cruz, CESO V.
   The Division has 19 supervisory districts with 3,011 manpower. There are 241 elementary schools with a total enrolment of 88,932 pupils and 14,240 pre-schoolers. It has 33 secondary schools, including one regional science high school and six technical-vocational schools. The secondary schools have a total enrolment of 28,838 students. There are also 16 private pre-schools, 17 elementary and 10 secondary private schools. The Division has opened 32 integrated schools (IS) with 5,419 to cater far distance learners in the Province.
